Kennett High School, Class of 1922

Class Poem

From the halls of Kennett High School,
From the care-free life we spent there,
We pass out into the Future; —
We pass out this night, forever.
We — who long have worked together,
Helped each other, helped our High School,
22 — The Class of Workers
Takes this chance to thank Old Kennett.
She has been a good friend to us;
She has taught us more than studies;
She has taught us sell-reliance,
Honor, and co-operation.
Now we’re leaving her forever,
Launching each our separate vessel.
Launching — yes, — where will we anchor?
Many obstacles will greet us,
But our creed goes on before us,
Beck’ning, giving us the courage
To proceed on life’s rough pathway.
“Be not simply good, your duty’s
To be good for some set purpose.”
With these words before us always
We will surely anchor safely.
Make the most of what was taught us
In Old Kennett’s Halls of Learning.
We are proud to call her “Mother” —
Make her proud to call us “Children.”
