Donald Miller Tucker, KHS 1944

Donald Miller Tucker, age 81 of Knoxville, died Sunday July 25, 2004 following a sudden onset of pneumonia. Mr. Tucker worked his long career with his brother, Thomas M. Tucker and father, R.S. Tucker, who founded Power Equipment Company. He succeeded his father as president and chairman of the board.

Mr. Tucker attended St. Andrews School of Middletown, DE and served in the U.S. Army. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he was an active member of SAE Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

He was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church and was active in civil organizations including the United Way, YMCA, and the Salvation Army including serving on many of their boards.

He was an enthusiastic sports fan and U.T. supporter, and for many years, an avid jogger, hiker and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ray H. Tucker; parents, R.S. Tucker and Blanche McMahon Tucker; and brother, Thomas McMahon Tucker, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Jo-Anne Kuhlo Tucker; children, Mark H. Tucker of Kingsport, Janie Tucker Gibbs of Bradenton, FL, Julianne Tucker Hartman of Davidson, NC, Donald Tucker of Cambridge, Mass, Joan Tucker Fife of Orinda, CA, and Sheila Tucker Reno of Maryville; niece, Rev. Louisa Tucker Parsons of Signal Mtn.; nephew, Thomas M. Tucker, Jr. of Knoxville; his 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Louisa Tucker Parsons and Rev. Roy Zinn officiating. Interment will be private.
